Hilina Hitimana, dental hygienist 

With over 17 years of experience in the dental field, both in dental public health research and clinical practice, Hilina Hitimana, a dental hygienist with a master’s degree in dental sciences and a bachelor’s degree in biology is passionate about oral health and providing quality dental care. During her dental training, both from a dental research and clinical perspective, Hilina noted several barriers to dental care and realized that not only is there a need to provide affordable and effective dental care, but also to educate people about the importance of oral health and the impact that poor dental hygiene can have on overall health. 

Since Bill 15 was amended in Quebec Hilina decided to make her passion a reality when dental hygienists were allowed to work without the supervision of a dentist in Quebec on September 24, 2020. So she opened a dental hygiene clinic that she named "Clinique Belle Heritage".  Why this name?: teeth are a person’s legacy and must therefore be protected in order to live a better quality life". Scientific research shows an association between oral health and general health. Therefore, one of the ways that people can maintain their overall health is to visit a dental professional to maintain optimum oral health.

Hilina is passionate about nature, different cultures; music and writing. Hilina is also a member of the Ordre des Hygiéniste Dentaires du Québec (OHDQ); the Fédération des Hygiénistes Dentaires du Québec (FHDQ) and the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA).
